ARDUINO: ENVIRONMENT-INTERACTIVE DEVICES
ARDUINO: ENVIRONMENT-INTERACTIVE DEVICES
COURSE PRESENTATION:
This series of workshops is for individuals wanting to get started into the universe of the physical interactive devices through the Arduino platform that have no previous experience with electronics or programming.
Arduino is a microcontroller that can sense (see, hear, smell, touch, feel the light level, humidity, etc.) the physical environment and react at your will using different devices or even your computer. It’s intended for artists, designers, tinkerers and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments. Its flexibility and easy-to-use hardware and software make it ideal for fast electronics prototyping for interactive products or environments.
Arduino is an open-source platform that has grown a community of thousands of designers, researchers, artists, computer scientist, etc. that daily creates, develops and share their projects and knowledge. Join it!!
GENERAL INFORMATION:
OBJECTIVE: This series of workshops is intended to explore the world of interactive DIY and physical computing as well as object connectivity to internet (IoT) with the Arduino platform. In the workshops we will start from the basics and go step by step till the advanced levels. You will be learn the basics from electronics and electricity, how to program Arduino, the available sensors, how to connect it to internet and how to make it interact will other devices. The workshops will make specific emphasis in the reuse and remix of code and electronics of other open-source projects.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Designers, artists, makers or anybody willing to get started into the universe of the physical interactive devices.
WORKING LANGUAGE: English with Slovenian speaking assistant.
WORKSHOP MATERIAL: You will need to bring your laptop with Arduino IDE installed (http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software). You should also download Ardublocks (http://blog.ardublock.com/engetting-started-ardublockzhardublock/). All the electronics kit used during the workshop will be provided.
STRUCTURE: The course is divided in different units corresponding to different levels. Units can be attended independently although is strongly recommended taking lower levels before higher ones.
UNITS:
UNIT 1 (3h): ARDUINO BASICS
UNIT 2 (3h) is coming soon
To REGISTER and know when and where workshops will be held check the EVENTS CALENDAR.
