Summer 2014’s top 5 Kickstarter projects

On July 22, 2014 by admin

Kickstarter is just great. If one wants to check the state-of-the-art in innovation and modern technologies a place to start looking at is there. From hydroponics to haptic devices, from social networks to rocket engines.

We have just made a quick review and selected those we found most promising, regardless of their financial success. Here is what we found:

#1: 3DPonics: yet another application for 3D printers: grow your own food at home!

Kickstarter is sown with hydro- and aqua-ponics projects, but 3Dponics is the only one we have found to be 3D-printable. They claim it to be eco-friendly and energy-efficient, giving you fresh, local and organic ingredients. It could be extendable , of course, with one of the many IOT (Internet Of Things) applications offered in Kickstarter, but give it time…

#2: MakeBus: A mobile FabLab!

Mobile libraries have proven to effectively bring literacy to places where the investment for a library facility was too big. The MakeBus stretches the idea and brings digital literacy to those places where it is needed and demanded.

#3: Arcus motion analyzer:yet another wearable ring

Although there are plenty of smart wearables  in Kickstarter, we have seen a lot of potential in Arcus’ ambition and presentation. As much useless is a wearable without the right software, they seem to have thought and developed already a series of applications and worked them out fairly well.

#4: Cmoar Virtual Reality adapter from Smartphone

Currently Oculus Rift (https://www.oculusvr.com/), successfully funded through Kickstarter in September 2012, is one of the leaders in Virtual and Augmented Reality in the market. Cmoar points out to be a tough competitor as by making an adapter for smartphones, the cost of the display can be removed from the final price, hence offering a cheaper version.

Can you imagine a combination of the Arcus and the Cmoar?..we can..it’s very exciting!
